I am completely new to sendmail, though have used other systems, like MMDF. I am using uk-21 to configure the cf files, but have no success. I cannot seem to get the local system to recognise itself. The set up is very simple, at the moment. Just a few machines on an ethernet, and one will gateway to another network. I am just trying to configure the 'slave'-type machine for now. The setup should be simple (?) - two domain tables, for local (ie local ether machines), mapping hostname to fully qualified domain name, and for top (just naming the top level domain); and three chaneel tables, for local (just this machine), ether (all ether machines, inc this one) and the top channel relaying ALL other to the gateway. Why won't it work?? When I try to send a message, it loops continually round SMTP until it reached the maxhops, then it starts loopign again as the diagnostic tries to be returned... I have invented the domains, as this system is purely internal, is there any problem with that? Even the *.m4 files complain about erros with unknwon local subdomain. Any comments, please?
