It runs on both the 32332- and 32532-based systems. Encore's work with Mach was done as part of a larger DARPA research project to build a 1000 MIPS supercomputer. It is available for a charge of $1000. Mach for the Multimax is available only through Encore, not directly from CMU. The primary difference between Version 2.0 from CMU and the Encore implementation is significant additional parallelization of the filesystem and network code in the kernel for improved performance on a multiprocessor. This work will be described in detail in a paper to be presented at the Usenix Workshop on Building Distributed and Multiprocessor Systems next month in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. As it is based on Mach Version 2.0, the current Encore implementation does not include NFS. The next release will be available in Q1 90 and is based on Version 2.5, which does include NFS. Hope this helps. Feel free to mail any additional questions, and if there is enough interest I'll post the questions and answers here. -David Kirschen Software Program Manager Encore Computer Corporation
