Message-ID: <27086@shemp.CS.UCLA.EDU> Date: 13 Sep 89 06:29:27 GMT Sender: news@CS.UCLA.EDU Reply-To: tamir@cs.ucla.edu (Yuval Tamir) Organization: UCLA Computer Science Department Lines: 20 Large (> 600 MB) ESDI disks are now available for under $3K (for example, from CDC and from Maxtor). I am looking for information from people who are successfully using such disks on the IBM RT running 4.3 BSD. Specifically, I am looking for the following: 1) Good and bad experiences regarding the reliability and performance of the disks. 2) Description of the parameters used to format the disks. Any problems in formatting the disks using the standard utilities provided by IBM. 3) Sources for these disks at low prices (for an academic institution). If there is interest, I will summarize the info I receive in comp.ibm.pc.rt. Yuval Tamir Internet: tamir@cs.ucla.edu UUCP: ...!{uunet,ucbvax,rutgers}!cs.ucla.edu!tamir
