I tested at home ( ser# 1230 ), and I really like it! Anyway, I have a friend who owns an A1000. due to several reasons, he wants to try and hook an A590 to his A1000. reasons are: 1. The only A1000 HD available in israel is the Supra 4x4, it costs almost twice than the A590, and the A590 can be expanded to 2M, unlike the supra which can be expanded only to 1MB. 2. The supra uses the old 256KBit chips which costs here about twice than the 1MBit chips for the same amount of memory. 3. the A590 design is much better ( DMA, AutoBoot, etc. ). 4. Actually, I don't think that there are any more Supras for sell AT ALL. The A1000 hadn't been on sale for 2 years. He doesn't mind sticking it backwards, or even doing some mechanical hacking to make it fit. ( It looks to me that he will have to take it apart or at least to saw the metal plate under the expansion connector which extends beyond the expansion connector. ). My question is: Will the A590 work with an A1000?? According to what I know, only 3 lines were changed between the A500 and the A1000 ( could it be IPL0-IPL2? I really don't remember.. ). I am just afraid that the bus timing is slightly different, and the A590 will not work. CBM: an unofficial answer will be greatly appreciated , in EMail ^^ if you prefer. ( dave? george? ) any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!
