Atari Corp's policy on exchanging STs under their replacement policy has been that they send back a stock version of whatever you send in... if you have a memory upgrade in the machine you send in, you lose it... (actually, the "official" policy is that they won't accept modified STs for exchange, but I wonder if they really have anyone who unscrews every one that comes in to check and see if it's been modified...) So the question is... (I'm sure you saw it coming)... what about an ST which has had TOS 1.4 *dealer installed* and modified from a 2 chip set to the 6 chip set... will Atari send you back a stock ST with the old TOS, will *they* modify the new one and add the sockets..? (get real), or will they refuse to exchange an ST with TOS 1.4 in it..? Will *you* have to remove the TOS 1.4 ROMs before you send the ST in, and have to pay your dealer to modify the new one when it comes back..? Of course, with the recent catastrophic price increases in the formerly excellent exchange program, maybe Atari is hoping they won't have to face this question... BobR
