Well, there also is the AQA (AST/Quadram/um um...Ashton-Tate?) protocol in addition to the mentioned Lotus/Intel/Microsoft one. This is what those great Rampage boards used. (REMM.SYS instead of EMM.SYS). The main advantage was one of speed over the earlier LIM standard.
