This includes AFS. (one of the remote filesystems we run at CMU) Though this bug exists in the operating system update one can update other selected parts of the system using the updatep command. If you recieved 1751 to correct some problem other than the BASE SYSTEM PROGRAM you should be able to update just that component. If a particular component thinks it needs the version of the BASE SYSTEM PROGRAM on 1751 it should check the version of the installed OS (called opsys in /usr/lpp) using the prereque facilities and not install itself without the new version of the OS.
