Hello everybody!

	I've got a problem. I can't create a new font, having
	*.MF files and MetaFont program available.

	When I start MF - it tells me:

		Sorry, I can't find that base; will try PLAIN.
		I can't find the PLAIN base file!

	and (as you guessed) that's it! Of course, I have plain.base,
	and mf.pool and cm.base in both small and capital (CM.BASE).
	I'm setting the environment variables:
		
		MFINPUTS
		MFBASES
		MFFORMATS

	besides those for TeX. 

	I'm not an expert in TeX, and especially in MF. 
	Your help is mostly appreciated.

	It's AIX/RT 2.2.1, METAFONT 1.0.
