In my dealings with them I talked with Ken in Tech Support.

He mailed me the latest drivers and firmware (4.40) and the 
problem with bi-directional communications was still there.
I ended up calling Tech Data and getting an RMA for the Intelleport.

Now I am back at looking for multiport boards - and Digiboard
looks like another good choice (comments anyone?).
