Hello,

I am in need of some facility to do FAST rotated text under X.  Rotating
bitmaps is far too slow.  I am considering writing a very simple vector
text generator.  The text will be made up of lines, not very pretty, but
effective.  I would like to know the following:

1) Has anyone written a vector text generator?
2) If so, is it fast?
3) Can I get a copy of the source?

Any other tips or advice regarding FAST rotated text would be appreciated.
The use of Display PostScript is not an option.  The code must run in a
heterogeneous environment; many of the workstation vendors currently don't
(and will probably never) support DP.
