PROJECT ENGINEER Key Responsibilities: assist in the development of a high data rate VLBI Data Acquisition and Recording System as well as a Data Recovery and Playback System, and Correlator for application to Space Borne Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI). This work will involve extensive design and application of real time operating systems as well as application software for control of the VLBI Data Acquisition and Recording Terminals and Data Recovery Playback terminals and Correlator and Data Processor. This position will require occasional travel to radio observatories. Qualifications: a Master's degree in Computing Science with speciality in multi-processor, real-time application or its equivalent; strong background in Computer Science; familiarity with the real time computing environment, the design of real time operating systems, the design and operation of VLBI Correlators as well as the signal processing algorithms used in extracting VLBI observables from correlated data. The successful applicant for this position will be an enthusiastic self starter capable of working with minimum supervision on a wide variety of challenging tasks related to the design, development, and implementation of VLBI systems for Radio Astronomy, Geodynamics, and Geodetic applications.
