Some elements of the Army of Poznan succeed in fighting through German lines and entering Warsaw. The Army of Pomorze, though, is unable to escape the pocket in the Bzura bend. There are now about 180,000 Polish troops in Warsaw. The SS Kensington Court is caught at sea by a U-boat, shelled, and sunk. Only 34 survivors are rescued.
