Wednesday, 20 September, 1939


The German 10th Army (von Reichenau) and 14 Army (List) surround
the Polish Army of Lublin (Piskor), which surrenders; 60,000
prisoners are taken.

Forces freshly released from the Battle of Bzura are sent to
the Warsaw perimeter.

The RAF and Luftwaffe meet in aerial combat for the first time,
as Messerschmitt Bf109's attack a flight of 3 Fairey Battle
reconnaissance bombers.  Two Battles and one Me-109 are downed.
