How do you go about creating a .gif file? Does it have to be done with a
color scanner or is there some sort of screen grabber utility out there?

I *have* the recent GIF utility posting from c.b.i.p., thank you, and it
does not seem to offer this capability. 

I am interested in something that will capture the screen display from any
application and will put it in a .gif file.
