I like the screen entry features of DataFlex, but I don't like not being able to generate a standalone (*.exe or *.com, no runtime) version. So I'm interested in a new dbms system from which to develop applications. Preferably a dbm that's part of an "integrated" package. Because I want to build communication and spreadsheet type capabilities into a few applications I have in mind. Here is my question: where can I find a detailed comparison between the popular/mature/dedicated dbms packages (ie DbaseIII, IV, FoxPro, etc) and dbms subsystems that are available with integrated packages (ie Smart, Enable, etc). I have not been able to find any articles (like the one a few months ago in DB Advisor) that compared them. I would appreciate it if you could give me a magazine reference, or your recommendations, and, if possible, your phone number so I could ask you specific questions. Does someone have a good list of all (most) of the mature integrated packages for DOS that have a dbms subsystem? Thanks for all the help Tim Coddington tac@sei.cmu.edu (w) 412-268-7712 (h) 244-8557
