Her apartment is already wired for phone service; eventually she will need a second line, but that is not urgent (and might require additional wiring). She needs to get her first line operating as quickly as possible. The important thing is to get people to take her order for service, assign a telephone number, and flick a switch in the CO to bring the line to life. When she was last in New York a couple weeks ago, NYTel told her that because of the strike the processing would take six weeks! Her line of work is such that she needs to be able to receive emergency calls. Do any of the readers know any means (or even anybody) that can speed things up at NYTel, at least for getting her first line turned on?
