I've seen three Packard-Bell '386 machines, and they used a Western Digital integrated floppy/hard disk controler. I never got into that board's documentation far enough to know exactly why Minix won't run, but I think they're doing something funny with either addresses, interrupts or both. It uses the right kind of floppy controler chip.
