While using a diskless workstation, I edited a file (on a NFS partition), and the program I was working on would see the old version of the file for several minutes. Turns out that this behavior was a bug in SunOS 4.0.1 (NFS writes are not properly flushed to disk on the server) and it was fixed in SunOS 4.0.3.
