Traditionally such problems have been resolved by judicious tweaking
of the server's /etc/printcap. Define a printer with an input filter that
does what you want, then mount this via NFSCONF and print to it.

If you have to, you can also fiddle with pcnfsd (that's why we ship it
in source form). Normally it submits each print job by spawning
an "lpr"; it would be trivial to change this so that (e.g.) if the
printer name was "imprint" it would spawn another program instead.
