John, Huh?? The UCLA MVS TCP/IP package ("ACP"), like its predecessor NCP FTP package, used "3-cornered" FTP successfully, starting in 1974. It still does. ISI recently wrote the BFTP program (see RFC-1068) to perform background file transfers using "3-cornered FTP"; it has been successful, and has been quite widely distributed.
