How about an option to recover any lost chains that it can find? This summer I did a dumb thing (del #?.c) and then wrote on the disk. DiskSalv and doctor did not get my far, so I wrote a quickie that dumped out sectors from the disk that looked like ASCII along with the link information. A real pain but it saved my skin.
