The final conclusion is CAPE by Inovatronics. I use the the line-based assembler with TxEd as my editor. It is extremely fast and VERY compatible with Metascope, a problem that assemblers like AssemPro and HiSoft run into. HiSoft is the fastest, but again, its compatibility is not 100%. CAPE also has an AREXX port, where none of the other ones do. As for a debugger, my favorite is good old Metascope 1.8. Very powerful, yet very easy to use. Last, "demo progs" are few and far between. Over 3 years of using assembly on the Amiga, I've managed to almost fill one disk of sample source code from various authors. A lot of it has German commentary and doesn't necessarily follow C-A guidelines. Sample assembly source is few and far between on the Amiga. Abacus publishes a book called "Amiga Assembly Language." Out of five available books on the topic, this one is the best. They also have a disk filled with all the examples in the book. Its very straight-forward and very handy. Amazing Computing also had a great series on the topic. Unfortunately, it was never continued... -- (((((( pete@i-core.uucp uunet!iconsys!caeco!i-core!pete /----\ | o o| Amiga Boing!
