Keywords: File access locking Message-ID: <285@hhb.UUCP> Date: 11 Oct 89 23:01:47 GMT Organization: HHB Systems, Mawah, NJ Lines: 34 I've got a problem that neither RTFM, nor even calling Apollo Tech. Support has helped. Basically, I have two processes: the first one opens a file for writing and begins writing to it. Shortly there- after, a second process, which is on another node, attempts to open the file for reading and is blocked with a "Text file busy" error. I know that if both processes are on the same node, everything works. However, the application that I'm working on is for a distributed environment; one of it's principles is that the first process will be running on a high powered node somewhere and the second process will be running on a node that is sitting on an engineer's desk. An eventual solution might be to use X Windows, but currently the graphics stuff involved hasn't been modified to work with X. Any suggestions on how to work around this problem would be appreciated.
