Our configuration was : An Apple IIgs with 2Meg, TransWarpGS, Apple SCSI Interface and 2 Seagate ST296N (80MB) with GS/OS 3.0. First try. We chained the two drives together (into one case). No problem, it works fine. Both drives were terminated with internal SCSI-terminators. Second try. We left the two drives in their cases and chained them with an extra cable (about 40 cm long). Serious problem. The system starts to boot properly but (about 80% of the thermometer) crashed before set up (a kind of Guru meditation?). We couldn't RESET the system nor reach the Control Panel CDA. Self-Test - Second boot try. Not even the graphics screen appeared. Power off and another boot. JSR Second try. We tested this again without SCSI terminator on the second drive, same result (Terminator installed again). We unplugged (after power off, sure) the first drive and connected the second one (with the longest combination of cables possible) and booted, all fine.?? We connected both drives and booted with the 3.5" drive. Both drives worked fine?? Third try (and solution?). We surely ran out of possibilities, if we hadn't have two SCSI cards. Now we connected each SCSI drive to one controller and booted; all worked fine. Does anybody out there have a (or another) solution to this problem? Frank. (for Achim)
