		MH-6.6 on HP9000/840

I've been trying to install MH-6.6 on an HP9000/840 running HP-UX3.01.
After installing mh, as a test I sent myself 3 messages.  But I 
noticed a number of problems, and I was hoping that this group
could help me with their solutions.

1. If I use "inc" to get these 3 messages from my mail queue, it puts
them into Mail/inbox.  If I then use "inc" to get a fourth message it 
puts it into Mail/inbox/3, not 4.
2. "show" seems to only know about message 2, even though there are
3 messages.  Requests to "show" 1 or 3 return errors of "message 1
doesn't exist".
3. "scan" only knows about message 2 also.
4. Mail/inbox/.mh_sequences contains "cur 3" after the second "inc".
Editing this doesn't make any difference to the current message
recognized by "show" or "scan". 

Any ideas for correcting these problems?

What I really want to be able to do is set up private bulletin
boards, which mh should allow me to do.  When I get through these
hurdles then I'll start testing that aspect.
