I just bought at a surplus sale a Sperry 3585-00 RGB Color Display. It works fine with my old 4.77 MHz IBM-PC and its Color Display Adapter. However, the high intensity colors come out as the low intensity ones. That is, there is a total of only 8 colors available in text mode, instead of the usual 16. I opened the display and checked for any obvious burned parts and broken intensity signal wire. All is fine. I also noticed there is only a brightness knob on the monitor, no contrast knob anywhere. A look inside where the contrast knob should have been reveals lots of parts missing in that area. Does anybody have such a monitor? Is it possible it is actually a cheap stripped down version of a standard monitor? The display still satisfies me as is, but I am just curious. I might invest a little bit more time on it if I had confirmation something is wrong with it. Thanks a lot Francois Jalbert ' jalbert@cs.ubc.ca
