Dvivga works fine under Desqview for me. It is, however, rather piggish.
You need to get the "change a program" right: here is what works for me
(its less critical for 386 users):

Memory size:400k                       (try bigger too)
Program: command.com
Parameters: /e:900                     (important!)
directory: c:/whatever                  (not important)

options:
write direct to screen     [!]
displays graphics           [Y]
can be swapped             [Y]
requires floppy            [N]



system memory 0
max prog mem size    (leave blank)
script buffer size           100
max expanded memory          (leave blank)
Text Pages    1
graphics pages  1
initial mode  (leave blank)
Interrupts    00 to ff
window position (probably doesn't matter)
shared program (leave blank)

options:
close on exit   [y]
uses own colors [y]
allow close command   [y]
runs only in foreground [y]
uses math coprocessore [y] if you have one
keyboard conflict [0]
