I had formatted it once and thought I had it running correctly but SCSI Evaluator showed a bad block so I tried reformatting and now it fails the initialization phase and won't mount. I tried the SCSI Cdev and it still wouldn't mount. Strangely enough SCSI Evaluator lets me verify the whole drive. A few times booting I'd get the "initialize" dialog and it claims that it wrote a directory but no disk appears. I have tried rebooting, powering down, and resetting PRAM but nothing works. Disk First Aid refuses to access the disk and occasionally SCSI Evaluator will refuse to get the drive/other geometry but on the second or third try it will put up drive data that looks correct. This is on a 2Meg 512e w/RELAX SCSI board running 6.02 from a floppy with only the NDR3170S connected. Also I was using SF&I version 1.0 and SCSI Evaluator version 1.0. And if anyone knows why occasionally my disk squeals/whines (like a full head thrash, not a powerup beep) I'd like to know. -- Steven D.
