I don't know about spreadsheet or database files, but for wordprocessor
files I would think that he can just save them as ASCII files from 
Appleworks (on 3.5" disks).  I don't know how or what program does it, but
I know that Mac's can read ProDos disks using the Mac 3.5" drive.  Then he 
should be able to just copy his file to Mac disks.
