Stepping Out II from Berkeley Systems, available mail-order for ~$50, MIGHT do what you want. It has a magnify mode (and the magnify box can be resized). Try it at a store first, and see if it does what you need. Additionally, it gives you the capability to shrink the screen image (see more at a time); you can type and edit in this mode.
