Lately we noticed a very strange behaviour. This is the configuration : SUN3/50 SUN386i SUN4 SUN4 SUN4 A M1 B M2 C | | | | | | --------------------------------- --------------- Subnet Backbone A has some files mounted from C. On A we start a global "find" command on the file-system mounted from C. B is serving as a gateway. On M1 and M2 we started etherfind with time-stamping. In the first minute there is almost no delay between the packets generated by A on the subnet and the packets generated by B o the back-bone. After a certain time a delay is seen between the corresponding packets, this delay increases until 5 seconds even. It gives the impression that the gateway B needs 5 seconds between accepting a packet from the subnet and sending it through to the backbone-net. Has anyone else already seen this ? Are we measuring in the wrong way or is there really a problem ? Please reply to : prlb2!sunbim!bbl!lmr or sa@sunbim.be Thank you !
