"REC" is not a place. It is a category, a keyword. It means "these
messages are about my hobbies".

Do you realise you can kill yourself and your family by following bad
advice in rec.autos? Obviously that should be "moved to" sci. That will
keep people from posting inappropriate messages. Look how well it worked
for sci.skeptic.
