These are *not* part of Usenet. Instead, there is a separate net, which happens to use the same software that Usenet uses. It is also the case that many sites are both Usenet and ClariNet sites. (Surprised?) You might be seeing the statistics for these groups because the sites that carry both nets don't distinguish between them when reporting Usenet stats. What is ClariNet? Mostly a news service. I'd subscribe, except that I'm almost always several weeks behind reading the various magazines I get. Not to mention six feet of books I haven't read. How to subscribe?
