Lines: 22 Where I work, we currently NFS mount the .../news directory on those machines that will provide access to News. I have recently been using the GNUS news reader under Emacs, which makes use of nntp. To get this working I had to define where the active groups list was along with several programs for posting. So I am using both nntp services and an NFS mounted .../news directory. What I would like to know is if the nntp service provides all access to data needed to read/post News, so that the NFS mount would not be needed. It may be that I have misunderstood the installation of GNUS or it actually needs both. If nntp can provide all the data needed, are there News readers like rn that can make use of this? Sorry if this is common knowledge, but I have been unable to find any good source of information about nntp. Alan Bair SPS CAD Motorola, Inc. UUCP cs.utexas.edu!oakhill!turbinia!abair
