Well, folks, it looks as if I will be moving to California in the
next couple of months.  Any suggestions on local birding groups ( I will
be living in/near Sacramento), local birding hotspots, books, contacts,
anything?

By the way, I will still have access to Usenet, so (assuming I have time),
I plan on sharing all my new life birds with you!
