Troup Perhaps someone with facts can put numbers to this: Hovercraft aren't very efficient. Armoring a GEM is a lot of load - until you reach the point where you can put a (U.S.S. Enterprise) size reactor in it. The nuclear power source turns the economies around for a while - it's got to be big to lift its reactor, so the bigger the better! Then you can consider half million ton tanks! and they could be ocean going.
