The '~' was supposed to be expanded to the path in the passwd file. It doesn't get expanded. So use: uucp adaptex!/usr/spool/uucppublic/scsiutil/list /usr/spool/uucppublic/list To obtain any of the files, replace the word 'list' in the above uucp command with the name of the file. I found two local systems to try this and it worked so no more guessing and believing what I read anymore. Do not use wildcards when requesting files.
