The upshot of earlier notes in & out of Telecom is that Md. & Va. suburbs are being removed from area code 202; therefore, 202 will have more room. This does not affect the room in areas 301 or 703 except that some prefixes previously-forbidden near DC (i.e., duplicating DC or the suburbs across the Potomac) will be allowed there. Local calls in the DC area will require 10 digits if crossing area code boundary (no leading 1, which is required on toll calls from there), thus permitting some current 11-digit local & extended area calls in the DC area to reduce to 7 digits later.
