The Software  Technology Program, sponsored  by GE at  their Corporate
Research and  Development Center in Schenectady NY  is such a program.
The point is to take BA/BS (CS  or related discipline) graduates fresh
out of college   and  train them  in  the    state-of-the-art software
engineering practices.  The training program lasts for three years.
