Does it work? Well, we're using it here. I'm whelmed. We're still running a (late) beta version, it works pretty well, but the feature set and operations are kludgey. If I were just setting up an e-mail network, I'd go with Quickmail instead (as is various other parts of Apple). It's not a bad product. It works. It's a good, safe business decision type piece of software.
