We used PC-NFS for exactly this purpose in the past with no problems. We were
using a Sun 3/50 running SunOS 4.0 and Siemens MX machines as servers. The
font downloading also worked fine. Assuming the Wollongong server behaves the
same as the Unix servers you should be fine.

Siemens DFS also works in exactly the same way.
