Its the clients fault.

The current BSD client does this correctly. (current being the
one I am running...) It will be released in a week or two as
soon as a finish adding the "mnewer" command which gets files
newer than a specifed date (unfortunately it needs a cooperating
server, but I'll supply that too!0
