I can add a little information about the SCS and the IEEE TCSIM but, I suspect that there is more going on in the world of simulation. Therefore, I have selected to post another inquiry. I will submit the results of this survey (with the information sources) to Simulation Digest in the first week of October... I would appreciate *any* information in the following areas on professional organizations for simulation: o Full name and commonly used acronym o Date founded o Objective o Membership (requirements, size, cost) o Publications (newsletters, magazines, etc.) o Activities (suborganizations, conferences, etc.) Any other pertinent information would also be appreciated. Please send responses directly to me. Areas of special interest are system specification, system modeling, system design, system test and validation, and system life cycle cost. Issues concerning the interrelations of these areas are of particular interest. Presentations related to models that emulate systems functions in a hierarchical sense, hardware to software mapping, model validation techniques, and design for manufacturing that illustrate the benefits of rapid system prototyping are solicited. Format of the Workshop: High interaction among the participants involved in different phases of the system prototyping process is the point of emphasis in this workshop. A three-hour session will be conducted for each topic to be explored. Thirty-minute presentations will be conducted during a session. An abstract of the presentations will be published in the workshop record which will be available to the participants at registration. During the presentations the use of recording and/or photographic equipment is strictly prohibited. Participation in the Workshop: Attendance at the workshop is limited to 150 persons, and is by invitation. To receive an invitation for participation, send a letter to the Program Chairman briefly outlining your area of involvement in system prototyping and your qualifications to be a working participant. To submit a paper for consideration, send an extended summary to the Program Chairman. Your letter or paper submission must be received by February 15, 1990. You will be notified of acceptance by March 15, 1990. 2 Workshop Chairman: Program Chairman: Ken Anderson Nick Kanopoulos Siemens Corporate Research Center for Digital Systems Research 755 College Rd East Research Triangle Institute Princeton, NJ 08540 PO Box 12194 609-734-6550 Research Triangle Park, NC 27709 kra@siemens.com 919-541-7341 nick@rti.rti.org Program Committee: Steve Roberts-Purdue Univ., Greg Diehl-Network Dynamics, Rajan Suri-Univ. of Wisconsin, Warren Debany-RADC, Michael Marhoefer-Siemens AG, Bernard Courtois-IMAG France, John Toole-DARPA. RAPID SYSTEM PROTOTYPING WORKSHOP Workshop Location and Hotel Registration Information: The Sheraton Imperial Hotel, conveniently located just one exit from the Raleigh-Durham International Airport, is adjacent to the largest planned research park in the United States, Research Triangle Park. RTP is a center for scientific and technological innovations, consisting of over 50 corporations. Three major cities surround Research Triangle Park. Raleigh is the state capital and home to North Carolina State University. Durham has Duke University and Duke Medical Center, and there's the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Workshop Registration Fees Early Registration Late Registration Before May 1 After May 1 -------------------------- ----------------- ----------------- IEEE, CS Member $215 $260 Non-Member $270 $325 The registration fee includes workshop record, reception, lunches, break pastries and refreshments during the workshop. Please send your registration to IEEE COMPUTER SOCIETY, RSP WORKSHOP, 1730 Massachusett Ave. NW Washington, DC 20036. Make checks payable to the 1990 Rapid System Prototyping Workshop. Room reservations at the following special rate must be made prior to May 7, 1990. Call the Sheraton Imperial at 919-941-5050, identifying yourself as a participant of the Rapid System Prototyping Workshop, to reserve your room at $80 single or $110 double. More Information: If you wish more information about the workshop, contact the Workshop Program Chairman. An advance program will be made available to the participants May 1, 1990. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 19 Sep 89 16:36:45 -0400 From: Paul Fishwick To: simulation@ufl.edu Subject: FTP is working again (finally!) Readers: Our gateway node was having problems for a short while -- this resulted in 'bikini.cis.ufl.edu' not being available through Internet.
