Basically, there are two separate PC systems, both running a dedicated Dbase application. They need to share data over comm line made of modems and phone lines. The question I have is this, what commercial or PD software is available for performing the comm function. I want the interface to the comm s/w to be programatic (procedures I can customize and call, w/o user interaction). True, serial i/o is simple and it could be easily and quickly written, but I want to use a more standard transfer protocol, such as Xmodem/CRC, Kermit etc. Something that will handle retransmission etc. Note that the "data" may not necessarily come from a file. I'd also like to send a given number of bytes from a particular address in memory. I greatly appreciate any information that helps me solve my problem.
