I've been told by the people at Comspec that their controller for the 1000
will work without any difficulties in a five hundered as long as it it
inserted upside down and backwards (ie 180 rotation) into a 500.
 
It would seem that all controllers should be basically the same (wishful
thinking, I know) so there shouldn't be a problem BUT....let the buyer
beware!
