Now this idea is great - so simple, but SO useful.  When I read this I thought
"Now why didn't someone think of this years ago!? Why didn't *I* think of this?"
Well, as a person who dislikes sacrificing columnar real-estate for a single
20x20 pixel square  ----  I love this idea!  Backwards compatible too, and we
just have to sacrifice a flag bit.
