We are currently running Oracle on VAX/VMS hosts, Apollo DN3000 hosts, IBM 3090 hosts, and IBM 80386 based PC hosts... Files are portable to a point.. and code is portable if you don't include things that are specific to one platform.. eg. the VAX version uses field updating, while the IBM version uses screen updating.. (maybe I'm calling this by the wrong term..) however, it's easy to go one way.. harder to go the other... IBM into VAX is the easy route.. VAX into IBM harder... back to the Apollo version.. we just received it recently.. it requires at least 9.x OPerating System.. relies on TCP/IP to share resources over the normal DOMAIN XNS... seems to be well acceptted so far by the programmers and users... - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - * Thanks, * * * * Ted Fabian * * * * NASA Lewis Research Center * * Cleveland, Ohio * * * * phone: 216-433-6307 * * FTS: 297-6307 * * * * email: tpfabian@nasamail.nasa.gov * * tfabian@earth.lerc.nasa.gov * * tfabian@csd.lerc.nasa.gov * - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
