I'm sure the newsgroup flows into other parts of the world, too, so could all those who are selling their hardware or software PLEASE MAKE USE OF THE DISTRIBUTION HEADER. This prevents people who are not able to buy your wares, or are unlikely to due to the prohibitive cost of transportation, being subjected to what is for them noise. If you were fully considerate of the subscribers to comp.sys.atari.st when advertising, you would use a distribution that mentions an area enclosing where you live, and having boundaries that are no more than a 3 hour drive away, as you are unlikely to sell to someone who cannot see what you are offering. Such a distribution might be named after the city or state in which you live. If you live in Los Angeles, for example, you probably have a newsgroup called "la.forsale". If this is the case, you could post your message to comp.sys.atari.st and la.forsale with a distribution of "la". Please, consider that Usenet is not an infinite resource, and a noise posting reduces the value of a newsgroup.
