<Try using the msdos command 'mode lfoff' which is supposed to 
<remove lf characters if preceded by cr, or lf.
<Hope this helps.

That command will only work if he is running TANDY MS-DOS. And
even then he'll need to run a couple of other programs to get it
to work right. (LF.COM and something else)
