Environment:
	NCSA Telnet 2.3, Kinetics EtherPort SE, thin Ethernet to DESPR thick-
to-thin repeater to DELNI multiple interface, Alliant FX/8 host (OS derived
from 4.2 BSD Unix).

Problem:
	Opening a connection to the FX/8 produces the appropriate window, with
the "welcome banner," but the login prompt never appears.  The connection exits
less than 0.5 sec later.  If ^C or ^S is typed before the connection exits, the
window remains, still without a login prompt, and all characters typed are
merely echoed back to the screen, with no noticeable change at the host.

Solution: ???

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
